Exhibitor Registration for Taipei International Machine Tool Show (TIMTOS 2021) to Begin on June 9

Hosted by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry (TAMI), the biennial “Taipei International Machine Tool Show (TIMTOS)” will be grandly unveiled at TWTC Hall 1 as well as Hall 1 and Hall 2 of Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center from March 15 to 20, 2021. It is expected that there will be 1,230 exhibitors using 7,000 booths in the show, firmly ranking as Asia’s second and the world’s third largest machine tool exhibition.

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has seriously affected the global economy, but Taiwan successfully blocked the first wave of imported infection at the beginning of the year and succeeded in passing the test of second wave of community infection crisis, making Taiwan an anti pandemic model for other countries to learn from. Among the heroic deeds, the most widely cited and reported story is the “national face mask production team” formed in the first instance by the machinery industry at the outbreak of the pandemic. The team integrated resources so well that Taiwan now makes 20 million face masks per day and can even donate masks to the affected countries during the pandemic, conveying the image of #TAIWANCANHELP to the international community and demonstrating the strength and flexibility of Taiwan’s machine tool companies to the world.

As the largest subsector among Taiwan’s machinery industry, our machine tool industry has a complete supply chain system, making Taiwan the world’s fifth largest exporting country for machine tools, whose applications cover the automotive manufacturing industry, electronics industry, and aerospace industry. According to a study by MarketsandMarkets Research Private Ltd., the pandemic has caused a decline in automobile production and the interruption of manufacturing supply chains. The global machine tool market is expected to grow from US$65.6 billion in 2020 to US$68.9 billion in 2021, with a compound annual growth rate of only 5%. However, Asia Pacific will be the fastest growing market, a trend that Taiwan’s machine tool industry has been aware of and thus concentrated its main export momentum in Asia in recent years. Moreover, the market survey by MarketsandMarkets also pointed out that the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) will be so innovative that the machine tool market will continue to incur more and more intelligent and remote monitoring needs and the machine energy saving rates will improve significantly.

Therefore, in addition to displaying various types of precision machine tools, metal cutting machines, metal forming machines and components in 2021, TIMTOS will also showcase complete line and turn key projects for Industry 4.0 solutions that incorporate sensors, robots, cloud data analysis, remote monitoring, and so on. In addition, under the impact of the pandemic, TAITRA is still actively assisting industry players to explore business opportunities by launching a series of online promotional activities: including special reports in which industry and research representatives are invited to analyze the challenges and opportunities for the machinery industry under the pandemic, online international webinars, 2D online exhibitions, etc. Through such diversified digital services, TAITRA helps manufacturers keep business opportunities online and grasp first hand information in the international market.
