New Machines and Technology to Debut at Mazak Midwest DISCOVER Event

Mazak Corporation has announced that it will host its first DISCOVER MORE WITH MAZAK technology and education event of the year at the Midwest Technology Center in Schaumburg, Illinois, on May 5-6, 2020. Featuring the Midwestern debut of several machine tools, the show will also highlight the North American debut of the all-new VARIAXIS C-600, a full simultaneous 5-axis Multi-Tasking machining center featuring a flexible, automation-ready design and the new MAZATROL SmoothAi CNC. 

 As part of the DISCOVER MORE WITH MAZAK series of technology and education events, visitors to the Midwest Technology Center will have the opportunity to see more than Mazak technology in action. In addition to interactive presentations and opportunities to discuss how Mazak can help customers reach their goals, attendees also will have the chance to discuss their specific machining challenges with Mazak applications experts and to learn more about how Mazak partners with its customers.

 Visitors will also find out more about how Mazak delivers new and innovative manufacturing solutions to tackle the toughest machining challenges. The event will allow attendees to experience the capabilities of 20 advanced Mazak turning, vertical, 5-axis and Multi-Tasking machines, including high-quality equipment manufactured in Mazak’s Florence, Kentucky-based North American headquarters as well as the Midwest premiere of nine advanced machine tools.

 Appearing for the first time in the U.S., the VARIAXIS C-600 is an advanced 5-axis solution with a wide variety of optional features, automation-ready machine enclosure, operator-friendly ergonomic design and significantly improved productivity. This all-new machine leverages 40% faster rapid traverse rates, 4.5 second chip-to-chip automatic tool changer, double-ended tilting table and robust C-frame construction for shorter non-cut times and faster cycle times. 

 The newest CNC within Mazak’s SMOOTH TECHNOLOGY platform, the MAZATROL SmoothAi control represents the culmination of decades of research into machine connectivity, manufacturing automation and process optimization. Featuring a MAZATROL SmoothAi configured specifically for 5-axis machining, the VARIAXIS C-600 also has access to a wide range of functions, from the digital synchronization made possible through MAZATROL TWINS to artificial-intelligence-powered machining modules like SMOOTH Ai Spindle and Ai Thermal Shield.
