Kipp 5-Axis Clamping System for 40 Ton Parts

Tuesday 6 August 2019, 4:02 PM

Heinrich Kipp Werk has just introduced its new Ø138 size 5-axis modular clamping system at the 2019 edition of Molding Expo. This system has already proven itself when used with heavy parts, providing high stability and reliability.

Kipp’s new modular 5-axis clamping system is designed for clamping workpieces larger than 1 m. In the spring of 2019, during the Molding Expo, the Kipp technicians’ team was able to testify to the conclusive use of the system under extreme conditions, the tightening of a piece weighing 40 tonnes.
The challenge for Kipp’s customer was in clamping a family of tools for vertical injection molding machines for complete 5-sided machining. The smaller pieces had dimensions of 2m x 2m x 0.8m with a weight of 15t or more. The larger ones were 4m x 4m x 1.1m with a weight of up to 40t.
The modular KIPP 5-axis clamping system in size Ø138 is the perfect answer to this type of use. After installation, the equipment times have been optimized by more than 300%. Until now, the customer spent 90 minutes, now it’s 20 minutes maximum. A pressure of 10 t per module is exerted. Four basic modules of size Ø138 are systematically used at the same time. The installation is carried out by means of a centering aid on the basic module for easier placement of the part by the crane.

Kipp’s modular clamping system 138 is compatible with existing (50mm and 80mm) and universal sizes. The XXL version makes it possible to attach to the M 60 thread. About Kipp France:

Founded in 1919 in Germany, Kipp has experienced spectacular growth. Part of a simple mechanical workshop, it is today a specialist in the world of standard mechanical elements, clamping elements and maneuvering.
The design of the clamping and maneuvering elements has been awarded several times for its ergonomic side.

Standard mechanical elements, indexing finger, pushers, oscillating ball holder etc. are used for all machining and mechanical assembly.
Clamping elements, cam lever, grasshopper, indexable handle etc. ensure precise positioning of parts with simple gestures allowing quick clamping and loosening.
Maneuvering elements, handles, flying buttons etc. are integral to the success of the company.

Manufacturing at the heart of our business:
The quality of the machine tools fleet ensures the realization of modern manufacturing processes. The technology meets the needs of customers, especially in the production of plastic injection or zinc parts and “special” parts. Kipp is certified DIN EN ISO 9001 Edition 2000.

The competence of its teams allows to take care of the customer from the conception of a project until the definitive realization of the part. Thanks to its state-of-the-art logistics center, Kipp ensures a high availability of around 95% of the parts and a respect of delivery times.
