Compact & User Friendly – Hurco Makes an Impact at Southern Show

Monday 6 April 2020, 9:56 AM

With so many of us on lockdown at the moment, MTDCNC is looking back at the Southern Manufacturing exhibition from Farnborough earlier this year. If you didn’t get a chance to visit the bustling show, we have videos and footage aplenty for you to feel now via MTDCNC.com one of the highlights of the show was the display from Hurco Machine Tools.

Telling MTDCNC and the about the machines on display at the Southern Manufacturing exhibition, Managing Director at Hurco, Mr David Waghorn says: “at the show we are displaying what is probably two of the most popular models in the range. The machines are very compact with a lot of power. Here, we have the VM10i machine and TM8i on display. These are both very high-performance machines considering the price, they also both offer a very good level of capacity.”

Discussing the VM10i, Mr Waghorn says: “This machine has a 20-tool station and a 10,000rpm spindle speed and a good level of power and axis travel. At Hurco, we try and get as much performance out of the smallest footprint possible, as this is very important for our customer base.”

With a 3-axis VM10i on the stand at Southern Manufacturing, Mr David Waghorn continues: “We also got a full five axis machine in this range with up to 5 different configurations of the machine. At the exhibition here, we are showing something that is very accessible to industry with the facility to undertake high-volume work.”

Looking at the Hurco CNC control system, Mr Waghorn says: “the system has conversational programming and you can input NC codes if you want. We can input IGES files and other formats, open them up and program them straight off the 3D surface and straight out of the control into conversational mode. Control allows you to zoom in, look at the detail and pick out items and edit them straight on the control. System is very easy-to-use, very accessible and very easy to learn. This is why people buy our machines, the machines are very good and the control systems are excellent.”
